Baby Elephant Narrowly Escapes Crocodile Attack Thanks to Quick-Thinking Mother

While a baby elephant and its mother were drinking from a river in the African bush, a sudden crocodile attack nearly turned tragic.

The young elephant splashed in the shallow water when the crocodile surged and clamped onto its trunk.

The startled herd, including the mother, quickly reacted, trumpeting in distress as they tried to fend off the predator.

Despite the crocodile’s fierce grip, the determined calf managed to break free and retreat, leaving the frustrated reptile to slip back into the murky waters.

Francois Borman, a 48-year-old Zimbabwean farmer and amateur photographer, captured these intense moments.

Borman was in the Mana Pools of Zimbabwe’s Zambezi Valley, hoping to witness some wildlife activity, but he never anticipated witnessing such a dramatic encounter.

“The baby elephant seemed eager for a drink, rushing into the water and enjoying itself, but what happened next was beyond anything I could have expected,” Borman shared.
