Baby Elephant Finds Joy and Relief from the Heat in a Kiddie Pool at Pittsburgh Zoo (VIDEO)

A baby elephant at Pittsburgh Zoo has been making a splash in an adorable attempt to beat the summer heat by enjoying a dip in an inflatable kiddie pool.

This three-week-old female calf, who is yet to be named, was encouraged by zoo staff to cool off in the child-sized pool.

Initially, the calf tentatively dips one foot in, unsure of the pool’s purpose. However, it doesn’t take long before she steps in fully, clearly enjoying the cool water.

Once in, the young elephant appears delighted, especially as a keeper uses a hose to give her a gentle shower.

She even drinks from the pool, using her trunk to scoop up water, proving how quickly she’s learning to control it.

The video of her playful bath ends with a keeper drying her off with a towel. Tracy Gray, a public relations manager at the zoo, shared that the calf is thriving.

“She’s just three weeks old and is doing very well,” Gray said. “She’s learning to use her trunk and getting stronger every day. Her favorite toy is her big red ball.”
