Baby Elephant Steals the Spotlight, Playfully Interrupts TV Presenter’s Appeal

In a comical moment caught on camera, activist Geoff Mayes found himself upstaged by a mischievous baby elephant while filming a segment on elephant conservation.

As Mayes tried to speak about the importance of protecting elephants from poaching, the playful young elephant repeatedly nudged and bumped into him.

Despite his best efforts to maintain his composure, Mayes couldn’t help but laugh as he tried to fend off the enthusiastic animal.

Throughout the video, Mayes delivers his message about the fight against poaching, all while the baby elephant continues to push him around.

At one point, an assistant keeps things from escalating further, ensuring the playful encounter stays light-hearted.

The irony of the situation was not lost on Mayes, who continued to appeal for support for the ‘Hands off our Elephants’ campaign.

At one point, he quipped, “Elephants are very close to my heart,” just as the elephant nudged him in the chest.

Elephants hold a special place in Mayes’ life, as he co-manages a lodge with his girlfriend, home to many of these majestic animals.

“We’re losing too many elephants to poaching,” he warned, emphasizing the urgent need for public support.

He concluded the video with a heartfelt appeal for people to back the ‘Hands off our Elephants’ campaign and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Mayes uploaded the video to YouTube with the humorous caption: “Never work with babies or wild animals… but baby wild animals are fine!”
