Orphaned Baby Elephant Befriends Human Rescuers

An orphaned baby elephant, now named Ndotto, has found companionship and support among its human rescuers.

Discovered weak and close to giving up, Ndotto was rescued by David Sheldrick, a member of the Wildlife Trust, who knew the young elephant might not survive on its own.

Sheldrick enlisted the help of local villagers to transport Ndotto safely. They carefully moved the elephant into a van and began providing the needed care. Now, Ndotto is often seen in the fields, being fed by his human friends.

Although elephants are classified as wild animals, they are known for their friendly nature when trust and bonds are formed with humans.

The Wildlife Trust team and Sheldrick experienced this firsthand as they developed a trusting relationship with Ndotto.

This bond allowed the elephant to roam freely, much like other rescued elephants in their care. A YouTube video featuring Ndotto captures moments that will bring viewers joy.

Ndotto’s journey from a frail and weak baby to a thriving young elephant is touching and inspiring.

Recently, Ndotto graduated from the Orphanage Project (OP) nursery and moved to one of the reintegration units.

These units are designed to help rescued elephants like Ndotto socialize with other wild elephants and learn the skills needed to live independently.

With three reintegration units available, Ndotto is on the first stage of this journey, where he will continue to adapt and eventually thrive in the wild.
