Two African Elephants Casually Stroll Through Hotel Lobby in Zambia

In a surprising yet common scene, two African elephants made their way through a hotel reception area in Zambia, much to the staff’s amazement.

The incident occurred at Mfuwe Lodge, near South Luangwa National Park, where receptionist Robert Zgozi captured the moment on camera.

The video shows the elephants calmly strolling through the lobby and past the reception, seemingly unfazed by their indoor surroundings.

After enjoying some wild mangoes from the hotel’s courtyard, the elephants casually exited the reception area and headed toward the car park.

South Luangwa National Park, situated in the Luangwa River valley of eastern Zambia, is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, hippos, and various birds.

A lodge spokesperson explained, “The two bull elephants had been feasting on wild mangoes in our courtyard. When they were ready to leave, they walked through reception, down the front steps, and into the car park.”

While this occurrence is common during this time of year, it remains an exciting experience for the staff and guests.

“Robert’s priority was ensuring the safety of our guests, and once that was in place, he started filming,” the spokesperson added.

The lodge staff are always cautious around the elephants to avoid startling them. “It’s an awe-inspiring experience to be so close to these incredible animals,” the spokesperson said.
